After Vannilla Fudge, Appice and Bogert were looking to form a new band. They tried forming bands with Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart. But they couldn't form the group because of Jeff Back's car accident. Instead, they formed a new group, Cactus. They produced a successful record on the first album.
